Hone onna
Hone onna
Hone onna (骨女 – Bone Woman) is a type of Yōkai depicted in the Konjaku Gazu Zoku Hyakki by Toriyama Sekien.
In the tale known as the Otogi Bōko (Hand Puppet Tales) by Asai Ryōi we see this tale first appearing.
The tale itself talks of a woman returns as a skeleton to seduce a man. The Peony Lantern Tale was also based on this tale.1
