Hiderigami

Hiderigami
The Hiderigami (魃 – Drought Bringer), also known as the Kanbo (旱母 – Drought Mother) is a type of Yōkai depicted in the Konjaku Gazu Zoku Hyakki and the Wakan Sansai Zue.
It’s home is said to be on Mount Ganshan in China.
According to sources, it has the body of a beast but face of a human. It also only has one leg and arm, but can run like the wind.
Other sources make disagreements on other elements of this creatures anatomy. The Wakan Sansai Zue, says it is 60-90cm tall with it’s singular eye situated in the back of its neck. However, the Konjaku Gazu Zoku Hyakki shows the creatures eye on top of its head. An earlier Chinese text, the Compendium of Materia Medica, also says the creatures eye was located on top of its head, but it also lacks a description of the creature with a single leg.
Should you see the creature, then it is likely a drought is soon to follow.1
