Aoandō
Aoandō
Aoandō (青行燈 – The Blue Lantern) is a type of yōkai depicted in the Konjaku Hyakki Shūi.
This creature is said to appear when the shadows flare as the last candle goes out and the room becomes plunged into darkness.
Toriyama Sekien in his depiction of the creature mentions the parlor game of the Hyaku Monogatari which would be played with a lantern covered in blue paper.1
