Izumi Province

Izumi Province (和泉国) was one of the many provinces in Japan. It is now included in Osaka.

The Engi Shiki list shrines to the kami Ameno Futodama here¹ with the Shinsen Shōjiroku stating the Haji Clan dwelt in this province amongst others.²

Reign of Emperor Sujin

During his reign there was a plague which ravaged the country. To aleviate it he was instructed to find Ohotataneko and make him the head of the shrine of Ōkuninushi He was eventually found in the village of Siyu in this province.³

This is related in the nihongi and not the kojiki which states he found in the province of Kawachi Province.
