Kii Province

Kii Province (紀伊国) was an old Province of Japan, located in what is now Wakayama and Mie Prefecture.1

Legendary Period

In the nihongi the kami Izanami is said to have been buried in this Province in the village of Arima.2

Yamanobe no Ohotaka passed through here on his way to catch a swan for the Prince Homutsuwake.3

Yanushioshihodakewogoro was sent here during the reign of Emperor Keikō to make sacrifices to the kami.2
