Kii Province

Kii Province (紀伊国) was an old Province of Japan, located in what is now Wakayama and Mie Prefecture.¹

Legendary Period

In the nihongi the kami Izanami is said to have been buried in this Province in the village of Arima.²

Yamanobe no Ohotaka passed through here on his way to catch a swan for the Prince Homutsuwake.³

Yanushioshihodakewogoro was sent here during the reign of Emperor Keikō to make sacrifices to the kami.²
