Himejima

Himejima (Lady Isle) may refer to one of two islands. Both are possibilities for the island mentioned in the kojiki as the fourth of six islands created by Izanami and Izanagi after making the Great Land of Eightfold Isles. This island said to be inhabited by the kami Amehitotsune. It could also be read as Omina-shima (Damned Isle).1

The nihongi does not give a name to this island, simply stating:

Izanami and Izanami then produced the sea, the rivers, and then the mountains, after the Eightfold Isles.2
