Urabe Clan

The Urabe Clan is one of the Clans of Japan.

During the reign of Emperor Kōtoku in the 7th Century, this clan alongside the Imbe Clan and Nakatomi Clan were tasked with overseeing the Shinto department known as the Jingikan.1

By the Muromachi Period it is noted a man by the name of Ken’yuu in 1371 completed a new version of the middle book of the Kojiki using a 1282 manuscript belonging to Urabe textual lineage2.
