Thirty Six Poetic Geniuses of the Late Classical Period

The Thirty Six Poetic Geniuses of the Late Classical Period (Chūko Sanjūrokkasen – 中古三十六歌仙) were a compilation of 36 esteemed poets compiled by Fujiwara no Norikane. The list of people were brought together in a document known as the Gorokurokusen (six multiplied by six).¹
