Privy Seal
The Privy Seal (天皇御璽) is one of the official seals of the Imperial Family and has ‘Tenno Gyoji‘ carved onto it.
The seal is used for documents such as the following:
- Sentences of law.
- Cabinet orders.
- Letters to authorize foreign consuls and several other type of documents.
- Dismissal of government officials whose appointment requires the Emperors attestation.
- Letters of appointment for official holding the ranks of the Fourth Court or upwards.1
