Honshu
Honshu (本州) is the main of the four islands of Japan.
Mythological Creation
According to the Kojiki, this island (dubbed Yamato) was the last of the Great Land of Eightfold Isles made by the Spirits Izanami and Izanagi, inhabited by the Spirit Amenomisoratoyoakitsunewake.1
The Nihongi gives this island the name of Ohoyamatonotoyoakitsushima, stating it was the first of these Eight Islands to be created by these Spirits.2
