										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<h3>Izawajō</h3>
<p><strong>Izawajō </strong>(胆沢城) was a <a href="https://historyofjapan.co.uk/wiki/heian-period" class="broken_link">Heian Period</a> fortress built in 802 within <a href="https://historyofjapan.co.uk/wiki/mutsu-province/">Mutsu Province</a>, located close to the confluence of the <a href="https://historyofjapan.co.uk/wiki/izawa-river" class="broken_link">Izawa</a> and <a href="https://historyofjapan.co.uk/wiki/kitakami-river" class="broken_link">Kitakami Rivers</a>.</p>
<p>It was here that <a href="https://historyofjapan.co.uk/wiki/sakanoue-no-tamuramaro" class="broken_link">Sakanoue no Tamuramaro</a> transferred his headquarters (<a href="https://historyofjapan.co.uk/wiki/chinjufu/">Chinjufu</a>) to so that he could continue his attempts at subjugating the <a href="https://historyofjapan.co.uk/wiki/ezo-people/">Ezo People</a>.</p>
