Maki Tōei

Maki Tōei (1721-1783) is known to have been a poet during the Edo Period.

During his life he wrote under the pen name Rōsan (Old Silkworm) and Shiyō-kan (Hall of Violet Light), amongst others.

He wrote the forward for the Gazu Hyakki Yagyo as well as undertaking the calligraphy for it, signing the book:

By the Hermit of the Eastern Capital, Rōsan, master of Shiyo.1
