Shibumi no Sukune

Shibumi no Sukune (志夫美宿禰王) was the son of Hikoimasu and Yenahime. He is said to have been the ancestor of the Sasa no kimi.12

Womata

Unakami

Unakami (菟上王) was the son of Ohōmata. He is said to have been the ancestor of the Himeda no kimi.

He accompanies the Prince Homutsuwake and his brother Aketatsu to pay respects at the shrine of Ōkuninushi in the hopes of getting the prince to learn to speak.

After he learns to speak, the Emperor Suinin rejoices and sends Unakami to build a shrine for Ōkuninushi.12

Aketatsu

Aketatsu (曙立王) was the son of Ohōmata. He is said to have been the ancestor of the Homujibe no kimi and the Ise no Sana no miyatsuko.

We see him later mentioned in the kojiki during the reign of Emperor Suinin. He was sent with Homutsuwake to pray at the shrine of Ōkuninushi in the hopes of getting Prince Homutsuwake to learn to speak.

Aketatsu swore a sacred oath ‘if there is an answer to be found in adoring this kami, then let the heron I see on Sagisu no ike fall dead.’ And the heron then died.

In reply to this he said ‘by this oath live’ and the heron came back to life. By his oath he then made wither and come back to life an oak upon Cape Amakashi (Amakashi no saki)

And so he was given the name of Yamatooyushikitomitomitoyoasakuraaketatsu.

They also leave with Aketatsu’s brother Unakami leaving Nara through the Ki Gate, as leaving through the Nara Gate or Ohosaka Gate would have caused them to meet a lame or blind person which was bad luck. On their journey everyone they pass they give the name of Homujibe.12

Yenahime

Yenahime (山代之荏名津比売- Yamashiroenatsuhime?) also known as Karibatatobe (苅幡戸辨) was the wife of Hikoimasu.

It is said she married him in Yamashiro Province and together they had three sons called Ohōmata, Womata and Shibumi no Sukune.12

Hikoimasu

Hikoimasu (彦坐王) was the son of Emperor Kaika and Oketsuhime.123 He is additonally said to have had several wives and many children.

Family

With his first wife Yenahime he had Ohōmata, Womata and Shibumi no Sukune.

Marrying Sahonoohokuramitome he had Sahobiko, Wozaho, Sahobime and Murobiko.

His marriage to Okinaganomidzuyorihime saw five more children called Tanika no hiko Tatatsumichinoushi, Midzuhonomawaka, Kamuohone, Midzuhonoihoyorihime and Mimitsuhime.

And with his final wife Oketsuhime he had Yamashiro no Oho Tsutsuki no Mawaka, Hioosu and Irine.23

Reign of Emperor Sujin

In the nihongi it states during the reign of his nephew Emperor Sujin he was instructed alongside Ohobiko, Takenumakahawake and Kibitsuhiko to subdue the surrounding provinces in the 10th year of his reign.

He is sent to Taniha to slay ‘Kugamimi-no-mikasa,’ though we are unsure what is meant by this. Scholars believe that this person may in fact be more than one.1

He is not mentioned in the kojiki during this part of Sujin’s reign, and instead a man known as Tambanochinushi is included.23
