    • Inson

    Inson was a Buddhist sculptor known to have lived during the late Heian Period and early Kamakura Period from 1120AD to 1198.

    During his lifetime he lived in Heiankyō as was the lead representative of the In School as well as being a member of Shichijō-Ōmiya workshop. He was given many commissions, including the restoration of the temples of Tōdaiji and Kōfuku-ji which had been destroyed during the Taira-Minamoto War.

    Sadly, after his death the fortunes and quality of the In School fell into decline. To this day no work attributable to him has survived.1
