<h3>Fujiwara no Fuyutsugu</h3>
<p><strong>Fujiwara no Fuyutsugu </strong>(<span lang="ja" title="Japanese language text">藤原冬嗣</span>) was a member of the <a href="https://historyofjapan.co.uk/wiki/fujiwara-clan/">Fujiwara Clan</a> (more specifically the <a class="broken_link" href="https://historyofjapan.co.uk/wiki/hokke-fujiwara">Hokke Branch</a>) who lived from 775AD to 826AD. He was the son of <a href="https://historyofjapan.co.uk/wiki/fujiwara-no-uchimaro">Fujiwara no Uchimaro</a>, having sons and a daughter by the names of <a href="https://historyofjapan.co.uk/wiki/fujiwara-no-yoshifusa/">Fujiwara no Yoshifusa</a>, <a href="https://historyofjapan.co.uk/wiki/fujiwara-no-junshi/">Fujiwara no Junshi</a><a title="Louis Frederick" href="#footnote">1</a><a title="Kodansha" href="#footnote">2</a>, <a href="https://historyofjapan.co.uk/wiki/fujiwara-no-nagara">Fujiwara no Nagara</a><a title="Brinkley, F." href="#footnote">3</a>, <a href="https://historyofjapan.co.uk/wiki/fujiwara-no-yoshisuke/">Fujiwara no Yoshisuke</a> and <a href="https://historyofjapan.co.uk/wiki/fujiwara-no-yoshikado/">Fujiwara no Yoshikado</a>,<a title="Louis Frederick" href="#footnote">1</a> <a href="https://historyofjapan.co.uk/wiki/fujiwara-no-yoshiyo/">Fujiwara no Yoshiyo</a> and <a href="https://historyofjapan.co.uk/wiki/fujiwara-no-koshi/">Fujiwara no Koshi</a><a title="Kodansha" href="#footnote">2</a>. He was also known as <strong>Kan&#8217;in no Sadaijin</strong> (<span lang="ja" title="Japanese language text">閑院大臣</span>)<a title="Louis Frederick" href="#footnote">1</a>.</p>
<p>In 810, turbulence which eventually led to the <a href="https://historyofjapan.co.uk/wiki/kusuko-incident" class="broken_link">Kusuko Incident</a> caused the <a href="https://historyofjapan.co.uk/wiki/emperor-saga" class="broken_link">Emperor Saga</a> to appoint Fuyutsugu head of the <a href="https://historyofjapan.co.uk/wiki/kurodo-dokoro" class="broken_link">Kurōdo-dokoro</a> (informal secretariat ensuring the secrecy of imperial affairs.)<a title="Kodansha" href="#footnote">2</a> Due to this in 825 he was granted the role of <a href="https://historyofjapan.co.uk/wiki/sadaijin/"><em>sadaijin</em></a><a title="Louis Frederick" href="#footnote">1</a><a title="Kodansha" href="#footnote">2</a>.</p>
<p>As a poet he also helped in the compilation of the <a href="https://historyofjapan.co.uk/wiki/bunka-shurei-shu" class="broken_link"><em>Bunka shūrei shū</em></a> in 818<a title="Louis Frederick" href="#footnote">1</a><a title="Kodansha" href="#footnote">2</a>, these being a collection of Chinese poems.<a title="Louis Frederick" href="#footnote">1</a></p>
<p>Later in 820 he compiled the <a href="https://historyofjapan.co.uk/wiki/konin-kyakushiki" class="broken_link"><em>Kōnin kyakushiki</em></a>, a book on legal regulations and precedents.<a title="Kodansha" href="#footnote">2</a></p>
<p>The following year in 821 he founded the <a href="https://historyofjapan.co.uk/wiki/kangaku-in-school" class="broken_link">Kangaku-in school</a> to educate his family.<a title="Louis Frederick" href="#footnote">1</a><a title="Kodansha" href="#footnote">2</a></p>
<p>It is also stated he arranged the marriage of his daughter to <a href="https://historyofjapan.co.uk/wiki/emperor-ninmyo" class="broken_link">Emperor Ninmyō</a> (the same source material also states it was Yoshifusa who arranged the marriage.)<a title="Kodansha" href="#footnote">2</a></p>
